A 19th Century Brookline Landscape and the Meandering Tale of a Cape Cod Shipwreck - Hunneman Hall

A 19th Century Brookline Landscape and the Meandering Tale of a Cape Cod Shipwreck - Hunneman Hall

In 2023, the Brookline Historical Society received a request for help identifying a landscape sketch marked Brookline and dated 1872. That simple query led to an incredible story involving a Cape Cod shipwreck, an Italian sailor, and a former Underground Railroad house in Brookline. The wandering tale even had distant connections to Charles Dickens and to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Join Brookline Historical Society president Ken Liss to see the sketch and learn about it and the unraveling of the tale it told.
