Seeing Me, Season 2: How Do You Wish to Live Your Life? - Coolidge Corner In-Person
Last year on Women’s Day, we focused on life and emotions, reflecting on the challenges faced by ourselves and the women around us. This year, we shift our gaze to female creators who have accompanied us through history. We hope participants will discover resonance, draw inspiration, and most importantly, find strength from the many stories of women’s growth. We aim to showcase more diverse representations of women while ensuring that new movement do not become yet another invisible cage. “The way you beat the drum is how the girl will beat it too.” Live the life you truly want to live. This time, we will feature 10–12 storytellers. Each storyteller will select a female creator and introduce her by sharing the challenges she faced during her growth, the unique features of her work, and the connection between her experiences and her creations. Of course, we also welcome you to share your personal connection with the creator. We leave the definition of “creative work” open. It can be an artistic creation—such as a novel, poem, piece of music, painting, film, or photograph. It can also take the form of an organization—a company, nonprofit, social movement, or even constitutional reform. A creative work can also exist within the family sphere, such as a child’s growth, a family’s evolution, an annual New Year’s Eve dinner, or something as simple as a bowl of homemade egg noodles for breakfast. All of these can be considered creative expressions. At the end of the event, we invite the audience to share stories of the important female creators in their own lives—their characteristics, works, and influence. We look forward to your participation!
