Poetry Reading and Workshop with Kathleen Hirsch In-Person
Join us at the Putterham Library with local author Kathleen Hirsch to hear a special reading from her recently published poetry book, Mending Prayer Rugs, followed by a guided poetry workshop. No experience required and all levels encouraged to attend!
Copies of Mending Prayer Rugs will be available for purchase at the event.
Kathleen Hirsch is the author of three books of nonfiction: Songs from the Alley, A Home in the Heart of the City, and A Sabbath Life: One Woman’s Search for Wholeness, and co-editor of Mothers, a collection of contemporary fiction. Her essays and journalism have appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Christian Century, Sojourners, and many other newspapers. Her literary work has been published in The Georgia Review, Orion, and Five Points, and her poems in Sojourners, Presence, Heart of Flesh, and Relief: A Journal of Art and Faith. An adjunct in the Philosophy Department at Boston College, she teaches a course on witness writing, and directs the Contemplative Writing Group at Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington, MA, where she leads workshops on poetry and spiritual writing. Mending Prayer Rugs is her debut poetry collection.
