Commemorate Russian Poet, Korzhavin

Commemorate Russian Poet, Korzhavin In-Person

Naum Korzhavin Centennial

We invite all poetry enthusiasts to join us in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the world-renowned poet Naum Korzhavin (1925–2018). Born in Ukraine, Korzhavin immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and spent more than four decades living in Brookline. Over the years, he published numerous volumes of poetry and memoirs and received the prestigious Big Book National Award for his literary achievements.

Russophone poets from Boston and New York will read both Korzhavin’s famous verses and their own works inspired by his legacy. His friends and publishers will share reflections on his life and creative journey.

The event is organized by The New Review / Novyi Zhurnal, the oldest Russian-language intellectual literary journal in the United States (New York), with the support of the Public Library of Brookline / Coolidge Corner Library.
