"The Librarians" Film Screening In-Person
The documentary The Librarians aims to provide resources and tools to connect folks with organizations fighting for our Freedom to Read and to uphold our First Amendment Rights—freedom to access information, the freedom to learn and enrich oneself, and the fight against the weaponization of language to silence library voices and stifle the freedom of expression.
Join us at our Brookline Village location in Hunneman Hall to watch this critically acclaimed documentary followed by a panel that will provide context for what has been happening in Massachusetts with regard to book challenges and bans. Following the screening, visitors will hear from author, Mike Curato, as well as Andrea Fiorillo and Jennifer Varney: librarians who are key players in the Massachusetts Library Association's Intellectual Freedom and Social Responsibilities Committee. Our friends from Turtle Books will be selling copies of Mike's challenged book, Flamer.
