Origami Meditation Workshop: Honoring the 77th Anniversary of the Jeju 4.3 Incident In-Person

2025 marks the 77th anniversary of the Jeju 4.3 Incident—a tragedy of unjust deaths, silenced voices, and enduring memories. The camellia flower (동백꽃), which falls whole without scattering its petals, has become a powerful symbol of Jeju 4.3. It represents lives lost yet never forgotten, and a history that demands to be remembered.

This workshop offers a dedicated space to honor the memory of Jeju 4.3 and reflect on its significance. Inspired by Han Kang’s Nobel Prize-winning novel, We Do Not Part (작별하지 않는다), which brings the Jeju 4.3 tragedy into global consciousness, this gathering seeks to amplify voices that history has tried to erase.

Accompanied by a live piano piece, this experience will be a powerful intersection of history, remembrance, and creative expression.
